Karnsiri Laothamatas
Chiang Rai, Thailand
A native of Thailand, Karnsiri Laothamatas began piano lessons at the age of 4. She is a recipient of prizes from competitions, including the 2nd Prize at the Kasetsart University Haydn and Mendelssohn Concerto Competition, 3rd Prize at the ASEAN International Concerto Competition and the 1st prize from the Roberto Mary Wood Scholarship Competition. She also recently won the 2016-17 McGill Chamber Competition with her trio.
Ms. Laothamatas has been a participant in several international summer music festivals, including the Chautauqua Piano Program, the Banff Piano Master Class, the Orford Academy, and the National Arts Center of Canada Young Artists’ Program. She has also performed in master classes with world-renowned artists including Dang Thai Son, John Perry, André Laplante, Malcolm Bilson, and Angela Cheng.
Ms. Laothamatas currently studies at Montréal’s McGill University with Dr. Ilya Poletaev. Her previous teachers include Dr. Sara Laimon, May Ling Kwok, and Dr. Indhuon Srikaranonda.
