David Potvin

Toronto pianist David Potvin is currently a student in the Doctor of Musical Arts program at the University of Toronto where he studies with Marietta Orlov. He holds a Master’s degree from the same institution and a Bachelor’s from Acadia University. He has also worked with pianists including Martha Argerich, John Perry, James Anagnason, Sydney McGinnis, and Walter Delahunt.
Mr. Potvin was a finalist for the 2017 Stepping Stone competition, and as the winner of the University of Toronto’s 2016 DMA recital competition, he performed on its Thursday at noon recital series in the fall of 2016. He performed Manuel de Falla’s Harpsichord Concerto at the Bathurst Chamber Music Festival, and his other performances have taken him to Halifax, Wolfville and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia, Vermont, Southern France, Romania and London, England.
In March of2018, Mr. Potvin will be giving a talk about text analyses in Debussy’s Poissons d'or at an international Debussy centenary celebration in Glasgow. Past scholarly activities include a lecture recital at Acadia University on Debussy’s Images, and a conference paper on Chopin’s Mazurka, op. 15, no. 3 at the University of Toronto’s graduate student conference.
In his spare time, Mr. Potvin enjoys watching soccer and studying philosophy.
