Mira Kardan, Violoncello

Winner, Strings 2025

Eighteen-year-old Mira Kardan attends the Glenn Gould School as a recipient of the Temerty Foundation Scholarship, where she studies with Hans Jørgen Jensen and Andrés Diaz. She was a member of the Colburn Music Academy, where she studied with ’cellist Clive Greensmith.

An avid chamber musician, Ms. Kardan performed as a member of the Olive Piano Trio, winning the Gold Medal at the 2022 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition. The Olive Piano Trio went abroad to Finland in 2023, participating in an exchange program with the Sibelius Academy.

Ms. Kardan was the 2022 first prize winner of the Bellflower[CA] Symphony Competition, and has won numerous other prizes including second place in the 2025 International Young Artist Concerto Competition.

She has been featured twice on the NPR nationally syndicated radio program From the Top. Ms. Kardan performed in master classes for ’cellists Gautier Capuçon and Steven Isserlis, and attended the Heifetz International Music Institute and the Meadowmount School of Music. Ms. Kardan performs on a Grubaugh & Seifert ’cello, and a Sylvain Bigot bow.
