
Grace Lau, Violin

Grace Lau is a violinist from Toronto. She is a third-year undergraduate studying with Paul Kantor and Marie Bérard under full scholarship at the Royal Conservatory’s (RCM) Glenn Gould School (GGS). Prior to GGS, she attended the Taylor Academy, the RCM’s pre-college training program, where she studied under full scholarship with Kelly Parkins-Lindstrom and Jonathan Crow.
Ms. Lau has been Concertmaster and Principal Second of the Glenn Gould School’s Royal Conservatory Orchestra. She has also been a concertmaster of the RCM’s Taylor Academy’s Chamber Orchestra. Ms. Lau is the winner of the 2024 Hnatyshyn Foundation Developing Artist Grant in Classical Music (Orchestral Instrument – Strings). Other awards include Second Prize in the GGS Chamber Competition during her first year, and being selected as the Favourite of the 15-18-year-old Ontario category in the 2020 Canadian Music Competition.
She has been invited to perform in several concert series in Ontario as a soloist and chamber musician, including Koerner Hall Concerts, the Royal Conservatory’s ARC Ensemble Concerts, the Ashkenaz Festival, Les Amis Concerts, Syrinx Concerts, and Yorkminster Lunchtime Chamber Music.
Ms. Lau has enjoyed participating in summer music festivals including the Heifetz Institute, Meadowmount School of Music, Encore Summer Academy, and the National Arts Centre’s Young Artist Program founded by Pinchas Zukerman.
