Joshua Peters began his violin studies at the age of four as a student of Gwen Hoebig, and more recently, as a student of Karl Stobbe. He is currently studying at McGill University with Jonathan Crow.
Mr. Peters has also had the opportunity to perform for many renowned musicians including Wolfram Christ, James Ehnes, Cho-Liang Lin, Krzysztof Penderecki, Masuko Ushioda, Ian Swensen and members of the Alban Berg, Artemis, Takács, Pacifica and Chilingirian quartets.
He has performed as a soloist with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra on many occasions, with conductors Alexander Mickelthwate, Rei Hotoda and Jeff Tyzik. Mr. Peters has won numerous awards and competitions including the Aikens Memorial Trophy of the Winnipeg Music Festival and the 2009 Hnatyshyn Foundation Orchestral Instruments Scholarship.
Dedicated to the performance of contemporary music, Mr. Peters has been coached by and performed works of prominent composers Krzysztof Pederecki, Christos Hatzis, T. Patrick Carrabé and Randolph Peters.
